There are many abiotic factors that are included with the Montane Shrublands. It contains bodies of water, a large quantity of mineral formations, high elevation, a varying climate, very intense sunlight, due to being closer to it. All of these different types of factors impact the environment in some way.

Bodies of Water

Bodies of Water

There are many, many bodies of water in the range of 5,500 feet to 10,000 feet above sea level, which includes lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, and everything in between. All of these bodies of water supply a generous amount of water to the living around them. For example, if the water was cut off from the ecosystem, all of the plants and animals will die because everyone depends on the water for their survival.

Intense Sunlight

Intense Sunlight

The sunlight is essential to the environment in the Montane Shrublands because the animals and the plants rely on the source of the vitamin D. The plants need it for their photosynthesis which helps them create their food to survive. From these, animals survive because the omnivores, live off plants, that only live from the vitamin D. Then, the carnivores live off of the omnivores. Therefore, the sunlight is essential to the environment in the Montane Shrublands.

Mineral Formations

Mineral Formations

Everywhere someone looks, there is always a rock or mineral, if it is above the ground, or below. Rocks are as essential to our life as transportation because these rocks provide shelter, and a GROUND for us. In the Montane Shrublands, the mountains are made up of mostly rock and dirt, and then plants. Without this rock, all of our mountains would be huge dirt piles, or wouldn’t exist. If these were gone, then few animals would survive, due to the lack of shelter, which keeps animals alive.

Climate

Climate

In the Montane Shrublands, you can predict very few things. For example, one day, it might rain, but the next, it might be sunny and 80 degrees. It is also really dry. All of these are essential to animals and plants living. This is because they have adapted to the ways of what is is like. Some plants need more than others and some can take more than others. Either way, the climate is very broad here.

High Elevation

High Elevation

The elevation affects the specific animals that live in that climate because they have adapted to this oxygen level and different vegetation and other abiotic factors because of this elevation. Their respiratory system has taken many years to adjust to this, and will take many years to adjust back if changed. Also, plants depend on it because the elevation affects the climate, and the sunlight, due to how close it is to the sun, and how much easier it is to attract weather.
