Montane Shrublands
Horsetails

Equisetum, commonly known as Horsetails when in a bunch are a family of vascular plants that reproduce by spores rather than seeds. This plant adapts to the environment of the Mountain Shrublands by doing simply what it does; spreading. This plant is a type of weed that seems impossible to kill because it readily regrows from the rhizome after being pulled out. It also cannot be killed by herbicides because herbicides are designed to kill seed plants. This Plant is a greedy one because not being known how to kill and taking over like a weed will makes the plant a stealer of water because the plant spreads and becomes more powerful taking over the land and water to the point where it could practically take over all the plants in the Montane Shrublands. According to www.botanicalgarden.org the equisetium is a, “Very aggressive spreader.” This plant ranges from two to four feet high, can take medium to full sunlight and can take as much water as it can get. This is how the Equisetum adapts to the environment in the Montane Shrublands.
